While several states have issued warnings as Winter Storm Quinn brings blizzard-like conditions to the Northeast, a couple have also issued specific restrictions to oversize load travel.
The storm is already showing signs of strong winds, coastal flooding and snow, and the Northeast area is expected to get 5 to 9 inches of snow.
The NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) released a statement outlining their protocol for the storm. They announced all over-dimensional travel will be restricted, with no movement allowed, from 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 7 through 10 a.m. Thursday, March 8. Additionally, and over-dimensional permit applications issued in advance for Wednesday, March 7 will be voided. The office can be contact to determine how the already-issued permits will be handled. The state office can be reached at 212-839-6335 or 917-681-0665.
While the state of Maryland did not issue actual restrictions, they did release a safety statement urging drivers to check routes before traveling during the storm. The message stated they may have snow emergency plans soon and reminded everyone to travel safe.
Pennsylvania (PennDOT) has put a ban on the following beginning at midnight EST:
- Trailers pulled by passenger vehicles
- Empty straight trucks
