South Dakota Spring Load Limits

The South Dakota DOT released the following regarding the Spring Load Limits, effective 10 a.m. Thursday, March 15. 

  • SD 42 – From US 281 East to the Davison County Line MRM 280.00 to MRM 285.88 – 6 Tons/Axle
  • SD 1804 – From SD 44 to Platte Creek – MRM 112.13 to MRM 120.16 – 6 Tons/Axle
  • SD 1806 – US 18 north to Whetstone – MRM 15.68 to MRM 25.75 – 6 Tons/Axle
  • SD 1806 – SD 44 to Lucas Corner – MRM 42.78 to MRM 48.55 – 6 Tons/Axle
  • SD 251 – Nebraska State Line to US 18 – MRM 0.00 to MRM 15.84 – 6 Tons/Axle

The following Spring Load Limits will be effective 3 p.m. Thursday, March 15. 

  • US 16A – Custer State Park east gate to SD 244 – MRM 26.25 to MRM 55.76 – 7 Tons/Axle
  • SD 36 – US 16A to SD 79 – MRM 36.00 to MRM 45.01 – 7 Tons/Axle
  • SD 40 – Hayward to Cheyenne River – MRM 38.26 to MRM 69.00 – 7 Tons/Axle
  • SD 87 – Wind Cave Nat’l Park to US 16/385 – MRM 47.27 to MRM 79.36 – 7 Tons/Axle
  • SD 71 – Neb Line to 2 mi. S of Cheyenne River – MRM 0.00 to MRM 21.00 – 7 Tons/Axle
  • SD 89 – US 16A to SD 87 – MRM 58.51 to MRM 64.58 – 7 Tons/Axle
  • SD 471 – Provo to US 18 – MRM 19.60 to MRM 24.00 – 7 Tons/Axle
