WCS Mourns Loss of Permit Writer

Julie Jimenez, a beloved member of the WCS Permits & Pilot Cars’ WCS Mourns Loss of Beloved Permit Writer, Julie Jimenezpermit department passed away on August 1, 2017 surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was 58.

She is survived by her husband, Nicolas Jimenez, her daughter, Samantha Juniga-Juarez, two granddaughters and one grandson.

Born in Peoria, Illinois, Julie moved to Southern California when she was 8-years-old and resided in Chula Vista, CA with her family before moving inland to San Bernardino, CA as an adult.

Julie joined the WCS permit department in 2005 and worked as a transportation consultant until 2016. For just over 11 years, she helped transportation and logistics clients with their oversize load and superload permits.

She was not only loved by her customers, but also by her co-workers and is remembered for having a warm smile and a love for baking.

Julie worked as a baker prior to entering the transportation industry and contributed many of her own recipes to company celebrations and potlucks.

Her co-workers considered themselves fortunate to know and work alongside her.

Julie and WCS transportation consultant, Kay Shimitz struck up an immediate friendship when Shimitz came to work for WCS in 2006. Although they worked in offices thousands of miles apart – Kay in Columbus and Julie in Los Angeles – the two became very close.

“I came out to California in 2009 to visit Julie and her family,” said Shimitz. “She was a dear friend; very sweet and outgoing.”

WCS’ Los Angeles office assistant manager, Kim Smith had similar sentiments.

“She was full of laughter and jokes,” said Smith. “She loved everybody and would invite everyone to her house for barbecues.”

WCS Permits President, Wes Mollno, said Jimenez loved her job as a permit writer where she always wanted to do the best for her clients.

“No words can express our sadness at Julie’s death or our gratitude for the opportunity to work with her,” he said.

Julie will forever be in the hearts of her WCS team members.
