Prepare for Michigan Shut Down, Order Permits in Advance

The state of Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is warning all about a potential interruption in the issuance of permits due to a potential government shut down.

Prepare for Michigan Shut Down, Order Permits in Advance

The Michigan state partial government shut down is likely to begin at 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2019.

The following is published on the home page of the Michigan DOT website:

If state government is shut down due to lack of budget authority, MDOT will cease issuance of all types of permits beginning on Oct. 1, 2019. We apologize in advance for any difficulties that you may experience should a government shutdown become a reality.

Oversize load permits issued before the potential shut down would still be valid. Individuals or companies needing to move a load for emergency response purposes that requires a permit to be legal, are urged to contact the appropriate law enforcement agency for guidance.

WCS Permits’ over 65 nationwide agents can help, but also urge all to get permit requests in early so WCS can apply for permits before the shut down.
