Oversize and overweight vehicle movement in Louisiana, with the exception of permitted loads that qualify for 24-hour movement, will be prohibited on all State highways in selected areas from Saturday, February 14, 2026, through Tuesday, February 17, 2026, in observance of the Mardi Gras holiday.
The Louisiana permit office will be closed on February 16, 2026, in celebration of the Mardi Gras and Presidents Day holidays.
The selected areas where oversize load travel is prohibited are:
1. Parishes of Orleans, Jefferson and St. Bernard (including the interstates)
 2. Within the city limits of Lafayette
3. Within the city limits and surrounding area of New Roads
4. Within the city limits and surrounding area of Houma
 5. Within the city limits and surrounding area of Lake Charles
