Iowa’s oversize load permit system (IAPS) will be offline for maintenance staring Monday, Oct. 27th at 4:30 PM.
It is unknown how long the system will be down, but new per ton fees and regulations will be in place once the system is back up.
- Iowa currently charges a flat rate on single trip oversize/overweight permits. Once the new system is live, Iowa will charge $4.00 per ton for every ton over 80,000 lbs.
- A new cab card rule will also be in place. Currently drivers must register for the max weight they want to haul in Iowa. With the new system, a rule will not require drivers to up the weight on their cab card, it can stay at 80,000 lbs. For example, if a driver is registered for 200,000 lbs. on their cab card, when it is time to renew they can reduce to 80,000 lbs.
WCS is working with the state of Iowa to keep up-to-date with changes and rules as they launch the updated system. WCS Permit Agents can still help with Iowa permits while the system is down and will have them ready to submit once the site is back online.
