The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is advising all to plan ahead for Fishing Opener weekend, which will affect oversize load travel throughout the state May 10 – 12.
MnDOT released a statement saying oversize/overweight travel is not allowed on all state highways including interstates from 2 p.m. on Friday, May 10 until 2 a.m. Saturday, May 11, and from 2 p.m. Sunday, May 12 until 2 a.m. Monday, May 13.
Every year, Minnesota has oversize travel restrictions for fishing opener weekend. The state has called the event, “walleye fishing opener” as that is the dominant fish anglers come out for state-wide.
