After a semi collided with the Rockville Road overpass on I-465 in Indianapolis Tuesday, Jan. 10, the highway completely closed in all directions, including the bridge overpass, for almost four hours.
Early on Wednesday, Jan. 11 northbound lanes reopened after the debris was cleared.
INDOT says it will take months for the bridge to be repaired and during the semi-closure and construction, traffic may be restricted, including oversize load travel. INDOT expects that the bridge will need to be demolished in order to fully repair.
Only two westbound lanes and one eastbound lane is open for local U.S. 36/Rockville Road access across the I-465 bridge. The ramp to I-465 northbound remains closed.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
