All annual permits must also utilize the approved detour. The state of Tennessee Department of Transportation (DOT) released the info on Wednesday, April 24th.

The bridge at Exit 239 suffered significant damage and has now been posted with a 40 ton weight limit.

Tall permitted loads must detour on I-40E to Exit 236, South Hartman Drive, Maddox Simpson Highway, US-70 NB to I-40 E. This detour affects only the East bound lanes of I-40.

The state DOT also released a map of where the detour is located. Regardless of the route on your permit you must utilize the detour around this damaged bridge.
