Many provinces will implement reduced travel windows or full shutdown periods for larger permitted loads to help manage increased holiday traffic volumes.
Below is a summary of the anticipated Victoria Day 2026 restrictions by province and territory.
Alberta
- No travel permitted for loads over 3.85m wide:
- After 3:00 PM on May 15
- All day on May 17 and May 18
- Normal Saturday restrictions apply on May 16
British Columbia
- No travel permitted for loads exceeding:
- 31.0m in length
- 3.80m in width
- Restrictions begin after 3:30 PM on May 15 through May 18, depending on load size.

Saskatchewan
- No travel permitted for loads exceeding:
- 3.85m wide
- 42m long
- 9m rear overhang

- Regular Saturday restriction times apply on May 16
Manitoba
May 17–18 Restrictions
No travel permitted for loads exceeding:
- 3.40m wide on 2-lane highways
- 3.70m wide on 4-lane highways
- 26m in length
Additional restrictions:
- No travel after 4:00 PM on May 15
- No travel permitted on May 18
Ontario
