Oversize Load Restrictions for Minnesota Fishing Opener Weekend

Oversize Load Restrictions for Minnesota Fishing Opener Weekend

From May 9 to 12, 2025, there will be travel restrictions for oversized loads in Minnesota due to Fishing Opener weekend. The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) advises everyone to plan ahead for these changes.

Oversize load travel is restricted from 2 p.m. on Friday, May 9 until 2 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, and from 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 11 until 2 a.m. Monday, May 12.

Every year, Minnesota has oversize travel restrictions for fishing opener weekend. The state has called the event, “walleye fishing opener” as that is the dominant fish anglers come out for state-wide.

WCS Permits & Pilot Cars keeps up-to-date on oversize travel restrictions for all major holidays and smaller closure periods, which are available on the Holiday Closures page and on the Industry Calendar.
