Winter Storm: Oversize Load Restrictions

As Winter Storm Landon continues throughout the U.S., there are some states that are restricting oversize load travel, and some that currently have delays in oversize load permit issuance due to permit office closures.

Arkansas

UPDATE (1o a.m. EST): Arkansas has begun issuing permits for 2/6 and 2/7 only. At this time, no permits will be issued for earlier dates.

Oversize loads are prohibited from moving during times of adverse weather/road conditions. To view all the adverse road conditions please visit Idrivearkansas.com.

Connecticut

Due to the impending winter storm, there will be no oversize permits issued for Friday, February 4.

Delaware

**Not storm related at this time.** Starting February 4 thru February 14, permit review and approval turnaround time may be increased due to the virus and reduced staffing. Due to these unforeseen circumstances, the Hauling Permit published line of 302-744-2700 and the [email protected] email will be unmanned during this time period.

Kentucky

Permit offices closed due to weather.

Louisiana

The permit office is open and issuing oversize permits but travel is limited due to icy conditions. There is no map available for closures so please suggest 511 as an option for checking before movement.

Maine

The Maine Permit office is closed due to weather conditions.

Due to inclement weather and/or road conditions, moves may be prohibited in the area(s) you’re planning to travel. Moves are not allowed to take place in areas where Driving Conditions are posted as ‘Difficult’ or ‘Ice/Hazardous’. Massachusetts

The Massachusetts permit office is open. Travel is currently open and not restricted, but if you’re in an area being affected by ice you must get off the road.

New Hampshire

Due to inclement weather, there is no oversize/overweight travel in districts 1 thru 6.

Oklahoma

All troops are closed to oversize/overweight travel.

WCS Permits & Pilot Cars is staying in touch with each state’s DOT office to keep all truck drivers, owner-operators and dispatchers informed of all oversize load permit delays and/or oversize travel restrictions. For those who are traveling in the storm, please stay safe.
