Temporary lanes on a collapsed section of the I-95 bridge in Philadelphia reopened at noon on Friday, June 23. On June 11, a large tanker fire resulted in the bridge collapse and closure.
Initially, state officials estimated that repairs to the bridge would take months, but just weeks later, and after emergency funding, truck and car traffic is partially flowing on the bridge again. A permanent bridge is still under construction where the temporary roadway was installed.Â
On Sunday, June 11, a large tanker fire underneath I-95 in Philadelphia caused a bridge overpass to completely collapse. Due to this horrible accident I-95 between Exit 26 and Exit 32 were closed with detours posted for truckers, including oversize load vehicles, and cars.
PennDOT still recommends the following detours:
- I-95 Southbound: Route 63 West (Woodhaven Road), U.S. 1 South, 76 East, 676 East
- I-95 Northbound: I-676 West, I-76 West, U.S. 1 North to Route 63 East (Woodhaven Road)

On June 12, Governor Shapiro signed a Proclamation of Disaster Emergency (PDF) following the collapse.
A 24/7 live stream of the repairs of the construction site is available.
