Canadian Family Day Oversize Travel Restrictions

Family Day is observed as a Statutory Holiday on Monday, February 19 by several Canadian Provences, including some with oversize load travel restrictions in place.

Travel restrictions are as follows:

BC – No travel after 3:30pm on Fridays, No Travel on Saturday, Sunday and Monday for loads starting at 10′ 6″ wide.  CHECK YOUR PERMIT for exceptions based on your specific permitted width.

AB – No travel after 3:00pm on Fridays.  Normal travel on Saturday permitted, No travel on Sunday and Monday for loads over 12′ 6″ wide.  

SK – loads over 3.85 m wide, 42 m overall length – Need to be off the road by Friday, February 16, 2024 at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 17, 2024, regular time travel restrictions apply, Sunday, February 18, 2024 at 12:00 p.m., Monday, February 19, 2024 at 12:00 p.m.

MB – Vehicles exceeding 3.7 m in width or 31 m in length.  the day preceding a public holiday, from 1600 hrs to 2400 hrs., Fridays, when a public holiday falls on the following Saturday, Sunday, or Monday, from 1500 hrs to 2400 hrs., Public holidays, from 1200 hrs to 2400 hrs  CHECK YOUR PERMIT for specific route restrictions.

ON – loads over Width: 3.70 m on two-lane highways and 3.85 m on multi-lane highways Length: no greater than 25 m for combination vehicles and 12.50 m for single vehicle Height: maximum of 4.26 m Weight: no greater than 63,500 kgNo travel after 3 pm  on friday, Saturday normal travel allowed, Sunday travel permitted from sunrise to noon and Monday no travel .

NB – Travel Restrictions greatly vary based on your width and length. Please CHECK YOUR PERMIT prior to movement to see what you can do based on your specific dimensions.  Restrictions can include that you need to be off the road by Friday, February 16, 2024 at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 12:00 p.m, Sunday, February 18, 2024 at 12:00 p.m., Monday, February 19, 2024 at 12:00 p.m
