Labour Day is a statutory public holiday in Canada that occurs on the first Monday in September. This year’s holiday, Monday, Sept. 2, 2024, will include some oversize load restrictions in various provinces and territories.
Alberta
No travel allowed if over 3.85m wide from 3 PM on 8/30 and all day 9/1 and 9/2. Normal restrictions apply to 8/31.
British Columbia
No travel allowed if over 31.0m long or 3.80m wide after 3:30 PM on 8/30 – 9/2 based on size. Refer to the attached restrictions in your permit quoting your specific dimensions and area of travel for specific restrictions on your load.
Saskatchewan
No travel allowed if over 3.85m wide, 42m long or 9m rear effective overhang after 3 PM on 8/30, after noon on 9/1 and after noon on 9/2. Regular restriction times apply to travel on 8/31.
Manitoba
If over 3.40m wide on 2-lane highways, 3.70m wide on 4-lane highways or over 26m long, no travel after 4 PM on 8/30 and no travel 9/2.
Ontario
Under annual dimension: no travel allowed after noon on 9/1. Over annual dimension: no travel allowed after noon on 8/30 & no travel allowed on 9/2.
Quebec
No oversize load travel allowed on 9/1 and 9/1.
New Brunswick
No travel after 3 PM on 8/30 and after noon on 8/31, 9/1 & 9/2 if over 3.65m wide and/or 30m long. Refer to permits for specific restrictions regarding your load.
Newfoundland
No travel allowed if over 3.65m wide after 3 PM on 8/30 until sunrise on 9/3, unless otherwise stated on permit.
NWT and YUKON
No special travel restrictions
Nova Scotia
9/1 & 9/2: no travel allowed after noon unless otherwise stated on your permit.
Price Edward Island
No special travel restrictions, daylight travel only.
