WCS Plays Role in Greensville Power Station Construction

The pilot car division at WCS Permits & Pilot Cars has been busy. WCS Plays Role in Greensville Power Station Construction

Since early 2017, WCS has worked with a heavy hauler to pilot some very important equipment needed for construction on the new Greensville County Power Station in Greensville County, Virginia.

The most recent load, a Flour Transformer, was the biggest of all the components to move to the plant site. It had loaded dimensions of 267-7 long, 32-2 wide, 22-5 high and 1,068,316 GVW.

It moved to Greensville from Emporia,VA during an overnight load earlier this week as it was escorted by pilots and police.

Although these oversize loads only load had a short distance to travel, WCS provided the piloting which ensured the load moved safely. Several agencies were involved in addition to WCS’ pilot car division, including area utilities, state and local police and the Department of Motor Vehicles.

More heavy equipment will be needed to continue the construction of the 1,143-acre site, which will continue throughout 2017.

New power output from the Greensville County facility will fulfill the need for additional generation resources to serve Dominion Virginia Power projected customer demand.

The Greensville Power Station is the largest and most efficient natural gas-fueled power station in Virginia.
